About TSF Print E-mail
Written by BartMan

poofballSo, how'd this all start then?

This site first came about in about 1999 (I forget, too many concussions), when I was surfing the net looking for stuff on the All Blacks and on rugby in general.  I couldn’t find anything like I wanted, so I thought “buggerit, I’ll do it myself”.

The first site I called Bart’s Rugby Web,  back then I basically got the top articles from each days New Zealand Herald, and each nights Waikato Times, and put in the headlines – no commentary, abuse or personal thoughts – that was to come later!!

The site grew slowly, and had it’s own little following, but no message board / forum thingy for punters to express themselves in.

Then UK Rivals came along, filling my eyes with pound signs and grand promises of huge support.  What a great idea I thought, get paid for doing what I do for nothing – little did I know what I was getting myself into.

It worked for just over a year I think, with the company pouring huge amounts of money out, and re writing contracts every six minutes that weren’t worth the paper they were written on, but I persevered until Rivals were gobbled up by Planet-Rugby, and I was surplus to requirements.

But this was great – I was sick of the limitations that the Rivals set up had, and despite now getting paid diddly squat, I am now happier, doing things MY way.  Right or wrong, it's my way!!

UK Rivals closing down also snotted the New Zealand cricket site, and that is now being picked up here, thanks to KiwiPie, Salil and assorted others.
