A relative newcomer, Jauzy is another of the
few Frenchman who have stumbled onto the fern. Known as a bit of a
doomsayer on the fern, as he runs the thread on players leaving, and very
occasionally, returning, to New Zealand rugby. Jauzy joined in April 2007,
so is now a relative veteran of the ways of the fern. Claims his English
is not that flash,. but it is a damn sight better than most Ferners French, and
some Ferners English even...
Forum member number 2800. Describe yourself in 25 words or less: French but not arrogant (that's possible), perfectionist, rigorous, discrete, calm (except when i watch rugby !), patriotic, loyal. What international rugby team do you support and why? I'm French so France. But I love New Zealand too, All Blacks are the legend of rugby. My club is Stade Toulousain, and like everybody in Europe I prefer my club than my country.
What Super 14 team do you support and why? The Sharks. Because Fred Michalak is playing there, but he's back to Toulouse so i don't know who I'll support next year.
What's the biggest challenge facing rugby? Rugby is in big danger in Southern
Hemisphere, money is in Europe and Japan so a lot of players come there. Super
14 must change : provinces must be led by some rich owners and sponsors (stop
the central control), new provinces have to be create in Argentina, Japan and
Pacific Islands. So a Super 16 (or 18) with home and away games, semi and final
(which would mean the end of Currie Cup and ANZC) to keep your players. And it
would mean less foreign players in Europe. Who was the game's greatest ever player? Jonah Lomu of course, a phenomenal player. How about non-NZ players? Who were/are the greatest? My favourite is Yannick Jauzion, i love the player but also the man. He remains very simple despite his success. After, David Campese, John Eales, Rupeni Caucaunibuca, Philippe Sella. The best match you have ever seen? Sorry but France - New Zealand during the World Cup in 1999 (43-31). It was incredible, we lost 24-10 after 50 minutes and we scored 33 points consecutively, can you imagine a 33-0 against NZ !!! The best try you have ever seen? No doubt for me. Serge Blanco against Australia at the end of the semi final in World Cup 1987 (30-24). A fantastic try in a so decisive moment. What position did you play, if you played, in rugby? I have never played. Unfortunately, I think I'm not made for this game, too physical for me. What do you like about the Silverfern? Talking rugby with fans from all over the world. We have different languages, cultures, traditions, but a same passion. How could the site be improved? If the forum was in French it would be perfect... Seriously, I think the forum needs more people from France, Italy and Argentina. Who's your favourite poster? Everyone is interesting, especially when you disagree with. Moreover, each poster talks about rugby of his country, his region, his town. I’m curious so I like it. Who's the worst poster? Probably me. If I were New Zealander, I wouldn’t like to see that jauzy19 has posted, because it often means that a player is off to overseas. Unfortunately I don’t post a lot in other threads because my English is poor, but I'm very happy to read them. How did you pick your user name? Jauzy is the nickname of Yannick Jauzion, and 19 is the number of Corrèze, which is my department in France. How could the game of rugby be improved? Rugby need an harmonization between north and south : calendar, rules, refereeing. And rucks are very erratic too (ban Richie McCaw please). What rugby player would you turn gay for? Clément Poitrenaud Non-rugby questions now Favourite music? I like all sorts of music, pop, r’n’b, French variety. In fact it depends who is the singer or the musician. Favourite book? Detective novels, and all the universe of Stephen King. Favourite Film? International : The Green Mile. French : Le Professional with Jean-Paul Belmondo, the final scene always makes me cry, with a superb music of Ennio Morricone, Chi Mai. Biggest lifetime regret? I have no regrets for the moment. Greatest hope? A good job, love, health for me and my family, and improve my English…
