One week princes, next week paupers. In order of expect-ability, losses for the Highlanders against the Stormers, the Hurricanes against the Cheetahs, the Chiefs against the Reds, and the Blues against the Crusaders. The Chiefs loss though, perhaps that can be counted on as expected. I recall many years ago the Hurricanes coming home from Beorland two from two, first time ever for a Kiwi team, and then losing to the blind institute when they returned home. As a Chiefs fan, you should really expect this, but we were spoilt last season when they made the final and won a few games they were expected too, and were meant to. As a mate of mine said shortly after the loss, "normal transmission has been resumed"... So we're pretty lucky I reckon that two of the Kiwi sides clashed, otherwise we might have been looking at a clean sweep of losses for New Zealand! With the Aussies going through the weekend unbeaten, that would have been almost unbearable! The Crusaders had little trouble dispatching the Blues, who did put up a better fight than I thought they would have, but still not good enough against a team that knows how to win. Unlike the bloody Chiefs... Hurricanes with the 604 injures plunged to a loss to the Cheetahs. The CHEETAHS!!! But, this season it seems the Cheetahs have changed their spots, and have won two from four! The same as the Reds, who are not quite looking like the disorganised rabble we have come to know and love. The Reds latest win though was just the Chiefs, who are expected to play like donkeys at least once a season, and have produced after just four rounds. Ten to go, I wonder how many more we'll get from the team we love to hate to love to hate to love (speaking as a Chiefs fan). So the Hurricanes loss to the Cheetahs, two tries to one, but with Weepu being unable to kick over a sandcastle, and the Cheetah kicker slotting them from over the equator, it was all over bar the spear tackles. Nonu visiting the bin this time out. The Highlanders were down-troued by the Stormers, who picked up their third win in four outings, and a bonus point for their troubles too. So, ahhhh, yeah, what a rotten round for the Kiwis - I am glad my Crystal ball alarm forgot to ring on Friday, as my tipping would have been even worse than usual - my tips would have been Crusaders, Brumbies, Waratahs, Chiefs, Highlanders and Hurricanes. Well, I would have got three out of six, so maybe that is better than my norm... Anywho, next week there will again be at least one Kiwi win, with the Chiefs hosting the Crusaders in Hamilton on Friday night. The rest of the teams though - the Highlanders take on the Bulls (good luck), the Hurricanes take on the Stormers (again, good luck), while the Blues have the bye. So it looks like it could be another one win weekend next week.
