1 pissed off Bokke fan Print E-mail
Written by Dion
Sunday, 24 August 2008

Shucks, another figgin home defeat. I am in a very pissed off mood and I want to see heads roll for this. Time for niceties are over. Just a word of warning. The following article is not for the feint hearted and carry’s an age restriction of 2-18. Can u believe after last weeks 0-19 defeat to the All Blacks, the kiwi guys and even the Ozzies themselves backed the Boks for a win.

Lets all split a gut in outright laughter.

Absolutely pathetic and the buck stops with our affirmative action coach and his pipe dream of expansive rugby. Lets face it. Our guys are hopeless. With each and every game, Jake Whites influence on this once successful team evaporates further. Coach Puppet must take his mousy voice and pee off, give the job to a more qualified individual.

Expansive game, Mr Puppet! What expansive game. Your guys cant even catch a ball, break a line or prevent their own ball from being turned over. Where on earth do you see your expansive flashy gameplan being implemented in this messy scrap of rugby. Why deviate from traditional Bok strength. This is not touch rugby, for crying out…this is international rugby. Consolidate, forge a platform, play field position…at least teach your team to do the basics correct. You are leading the Boks to an era even worse then Rudolp Strauli. Huge home defeats against the All Blacks and Wallabies. When last have we lost two on the trot against the Down Under teams at home. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t recall any. And then, look at the losing margin. It’s horse shit guys. Even a win at Ellis Park will not eradicate our worst Tri Nations performance ever.

Its hard to believe that this is close to the same team that won the world cup. Jeez, and I thaught Jake White was an idiot at times.

Look at all this talk about winning with a bonus point. Arrogant stuff. Lets just win the test match ahead for Bok rugby, for fark sakes. What happened to PB’s declaration of a new era has dawned for Bok rugby. Perhaps a new era HAS dawned…but it is not an era I want to see for the Boks. Dunedin has proved to be a flash in the pan for one idiotic coach who has got the job purely because of the colour of skin. Burn me guys if you will, but that’s the bottom line.

As a Bok supporter, why the hell do we keep going to work so side tracked on Saturday mornings and so disinterested in the job coz of the big match ahead.. Cant keep our minds on work with a test match scheduled at 3 o clock. Cant concentrate, cant focus on work. All some of us can think about is test rugby in the afternoon. What do we get…0-19 against the All Blacks. Come back a week later, cant sleep the night before, cant work, hanging the whole day, the whole weeks build up for the rugby only to be humiliated yet again. Give us something Mr Puppet, to yell our lunges for.

Next week, we have a braai at at our house with all the guys in the neighbourhood gathering with their beers and the women gossiping about whatever they want. I have decided to cancel in the wake of an utter lack of confidence in Coach Puppet and his under performing Boks. I mean, with all that testosterone male visitors and their beers in front of the TV, will we have anything to yell and shake our glasses to. I think not based on the evidence so far.

Today the Boks were outright crap. Disgusting for a proud and talented rugby nation. Those who hold positive perspectives, will point out to our two “wonderfull” tries, but lets face it… with the clock ticking away, the game was horribly lost by the time those tries came around.

Thank goodness I never laid out the R1 700.00 it would have cost me to take my family to see this garbage.

Perhaps it’s the anger in me, perhaps maybe the beers I began to indulge in shortly after half time when the writing was on the wall. It’s time for drastic change. And lets now make the change. Lets start with the players and it is time to accept that Butch James is so pedestrian, we have to acknowledge anyone but him will be an improvement. Even a freakish selection like Earl Rose will garner better performances on the field. And while we are at, Victor Matfield’s captaincy record is dismal. Friggin shockin if you ask me. 0 from six or something horribly scary And what about Schalk Burger. Recently he has been a shadow of his former self. So too Juan Smith. Have these guys lost form or are they mismanaged. Matfield himself as a player also has not imposed himself on the game. Looking at Cobus Grobbelaar, is there anyone else out there who feels he may be worth a looking. Luke Watson has been a monumental failure so far. God, I hate to say it. Jake White was  so right about him.

Ok, the changes.

The first change would be to hoof coach Puppet in the butt with the biggest boot you can find on a Bok supporter. Second change would be the captain. Lets give it to Jean de Villiers. In his own right, he is an inspirational leader.

Failing which, a must needed change at flyhalf. Preferably Francois Steyn or someone from outside the squad. At the moment, I would gladly welcome Earl Rose, even Derek de Waal…jeez, I would even put myself or my grandma there, such has been the play of Butch this whole trinations long. Our loosies have been cleaned up two weeks in a row. But who better do we have than Shalk and Juan. Maybe its time to venture into the Free State and look at their loosies. Hendro Scholz and company have looked the real deal…

JP Pieterson is another one who has been quite literally crap. Bryan Habana on the one wing, and I would stick with Jonde Nokwe on the other. In the midfield Adi Jacobs has been a revelation. But has his combination with Jean de Villiers been working. In my humble but angry opinion, no it has,nt. Have these guys been carving holes through their oppositions midfield defence. No..and no again. That combo, guys, is not working. Either you can listen to coach Puppet and have the patience he asks from you… or its time to declare this combination a failure.

How about Jean and Steyn at midfield with Earl Rose at flyhalf. Or, lets bring Steyn to flyhalf and leave him there ahead of James.

Lastly, to the Ozzie guys. Please accept my apologies that I have,nt jumped into this post with hordes of sportsman like congratulations. There is no doubt, you guys deserve that. At the moment, I am one very pissed off Bok supporter, angry and disheartened and therefore your typical sportsmanship which is classical of the fern, is contrary to my mood. But I must take a moment and consider what you guys must be feeling. After a big bogie in the Republic for so many years, you guys a got one over us…and convincingly. As hard as it pains me to say, enjoy your victory… and don’t let my shit mood detract from what is rightfully your place in the sun and spotlight. Your guys had our stupid Boks looking silly. Well done (shit that hurt). A first victory in SA since year 2000 and a third since our readmission…enjoy your beers and congrats. At the moment, your guys are streets ahead of ours… and I am happy that somewhere in Oz our pain will be the pleasure of many.

For us miserable Bok fans, should,nt we insist that heads must roll. I would prefer that to be Mr Puppet himself. But that aint going to happen. The current squad is not the right playing personal for the expansive approach he bleats on about.

For everyone else, this post comes after a host of indulgences in a pile of beer following two comprehensive and successive home defeats to add to Perth. Please forgive me if none of it makes sense. Come next Saturday, I am wondering whether I should be taking a water skiing trip round about the same time the rugby is on.
