Boer preview, round 7 Print E-mail
Written by PB

After a disastrous round 6 when only the Lions got a draw, it will be interesting to see if our teams can lift their heads, and try and get this nightmare (bar Stormers & Sharks) 2008 over.

Waratahs vs Cheetahs
Can't understand why the Cheetahs still struggling to get a win in 2008? This is not an easy game but surely the Cheetahs have a tiny little chance to upset the Tahs. The Cheetahs have a good scrum, lineout and class loosies. They struggle with the defense although scoring the most tries of all our sides. Valie paying the prize for a big mouth and young Jan Louis Potgieter in 10. Never was a Conrad man but this youngster already shows some class. He will be up against Beale, both young and talented. Hope we can see at least a better defensive effort from the Tin Ears.

Force vs Stormers
The Force and Stormers both have show some good away form. For me the Force the best Aus side and with Gitau running things also one of the best backlines in S14 rugby. The Stormers defence though the change between the class of last year. The Stormers though in a desperate position and just have to dig a win out of this one. They show improvement match by match this year, and have to take this one if they want to have any hope to get to the semis on own steam. Going to the forwards the Force have a good lineout. With Bekker & Skeate both lineout specialist it maybe a even match. Scrum wise the Stormers may have the upper hand with a impressive Mujatsi. With Liebenberg back in the reserve they will even have some good impact in this regard. Loosies , well this one maybe the decider in the end. Both teams have good loosies but the ones that play the ref right may get the upper hand. I am going with my heart here and predict a close game maybe going to the Stormers in the final minutes like two years ago in Perth.

Blues vs Bulls
Can't add anything to the Bulls effort thus far. All the names on paper but show no passion, hunger or dedication on the field. Against one of the best teams in S14 rugby hopefully they may wake up from their summer sleep. If they don't show up its going to be a long long afternoon.

Sharks vs Reds
Sharks haven't lost thus far and glad they pick the Steyn/Pienaar combo. They are Bok contenders in this positions and the more they play, the better. Don't understand why they pick Beast in the fatties against a very good scrumming Reds side. The Reds very lucky to get a draw against the Lions last week but surely they should be Shark food in the Tank.

Expect at least a Sharks win, 50/50 Stormers win , better Cheetah defensive effort and zip from the Bulls.

Myself think the Crusaders should topple the Hurricanes and my Kiwi favourite team Chiefs will win against the Highlanders.
