With the final in a weeks time, check out how
the past has gone, as you try and predict the future. As we know, they
have almost less than nothing to do with each other, but it is fun all the same.
I mean, 2002, and the Waratahs almost concede a
hundred (96-19), but then go on and win the next two clashes, before a run of
five losses...
Anyway, a few facts and figures from the matches...
Crusaders have lost 4 times to the Waratahs,
three times away, with just the one home loss, in 2004, to the Sydneysiders.
Highest Crusaders win 96-19 in 2002
(Christchurch), biggest loss 19-43 in 2004 (Christchurch).
Crusaders have not lost to the Waratahs since
that record loss in 2004. They also lost in 2003, giving them their only
losing streak against the light blues of the Waratahs.
The Crusaders have only lost at home once to
the Waratahs - again, that 2004 record loss.
The Crusaders have beaten them five times since
that 2004 loss, their biggest winning streak against the 'Tahs.
Up until 2004, the wins were almost evenly
spread, five to Crusaders, 4 to Waratahs.
The Crusaders and Waratahs have met once before
in a play off game, the Crusaders winning the 2005 final 35-25. They also
beat the Waratahs 33-27 away in round robin play that season.
The Crusaders jersey colours are way cooler
than the pale blue of the Waratahs too...
