I am also posting my favoured players, my team mostly consists of recent players say last 12 years;
1. Big Os du Randt - I have been watching os since 1995 world cup and i have not seen any player truly dominate him, I pick him at loose head for his longevity only but would rather have his late 90's version. (Honourable mention - Kees Meeuws, just to lead the haka as my team would start with the haka).
2. John Smit - I picked him in this position for his leadership and good lineout throwing he is also acceptable with ball in hand. (Honourable mention- Sean Fitzpatrick, I never really watched enough of him but I have come to like him due to the reputation he carries).
3. Carl Hayman - A big good man, enuff said, no other tighthead really comes close.
4. Martin Johnson - Can't go past the England captain, I think he brings a lot of steel to the pack (Honoroube mention - Abdel Bennazi the Morrocan Frenchman)
5. John Eales - I believe Eales will adequately compliment martin Johnson and complete a tight five that would bring a lot of power to the field. (Honourable mention (Chris Jack, I have to squeeze Him somewhere).
6. Schalk Burger - He won a tight race with Jerry Collins for this position, but i have to pick one so Burger gets the nod (Honourable mention - Jerry Collins.
7. Richie Macaw - A no brainer for me and no honurable mention for anyone.
8. Rodney Sooialo - Okay i know everyone would not agree with my pick here but I think Rodders has earned this position and I can bet he would not disgrace the team, he also completes a loose trio that would fight and defeat a pack of hyenas in the middle of the African savanna, plus this is a favourites 15. (Honourable mention - Toutai Kefu).
9. George Gregan (c) - I never used to like Georgie but he is a damn good player, has always frustrated his opponents and I would pick him to unleash the flyhalf in my team better than any other scrummie. I also pick him at captain as I think he is best placed to control my team which is coincidentally full of leaders (Honourable mention - Justin Marshall).
10. Daniel Carter - The best 10 I have seen, would love to see him unleashed by Gregan (Honourable mention - Andrew Mertehns).
11. Jonah Lomu - I remember Lomu of old destroying all and sundry before him (Honourable mention - Chester Williams who successfully marked him in the 1995 RWC).
12. Tana Umaga - Tana would be perfect in the 12 jersey right outside carter for his tackling offloading and linking with the loosies (Honourable mention - Tim Horan, he was really neat but unfortunately I need big strong men in my team).
13. Stirling Mortlock - He beats O'Driscol in a tight race for this tricky jersey (Honourable mention - BOD, I would have given him this jersey but Mortlock pips him to it coz Mortlock has proven himself consistently against much tougher opposition).
14. Sitiveni Sivivatu - Sivi automatically gets my nod for this jersey ahead of anyone else coz Lomu has to play at 11, although I would require him to learn to play on the wrong side of the field for him (Honurable mention - Jeff Wilson).
15. Stephen Larkham - I have never seen him play full back but i read somewhere that he has, since he had to be in my team somewhere and since carter already had 10 and Tana 12 he gets fullback, his kicking is excellent he tackles well and at fullback he would be even better at ghosting through defences with his deceptive pace and an eye for the gap (Hounorable mention - Christian Cullen, its unfortunate that I can't find a position for him).
There you have it, the only worry for me is that my team is full of leaders so may be ego's would clash, but i guess that would be temporary as the most forceful personality would rise to the top and the others would have to follow, on the plus side is that the team is full of defenders except may be the 2 wingers but that doesn't worry me as cover defence would pick any one who managed to go past either of them.
So 3 Saffa's, 7 AB's,4 Oz and 1 pom, not a bad mix. So ferners are now welcome to pick it apart!
