Saffa Review Round 13 Print E-mail
Written by Administrator
Sunday, 29 April 2007

This 2007 S14 season turn out to be some season. At this stage only 80 minutes of rugby left  and plenty to look forward. It is really difficult now to stand still for round 13 and cant help looking to round 14 to see where every team will end up on the log. Sure this must be a historical season because after 13 rounds still 7 teams possible to make the semis and for the Saffers the cherry because two of our teams possible to end on top or on own steam to get to 2 and 3.

Hurricanes vs Highlanders
A unexpected tight finish and after all the games a meaningless effort. Both teams are official gone now and join the bottom lot. Only pride to play for next week.

Force vs Cheetahs
The Force can still get to the semis with the help of others and they were hungry after three losses in a row. They look like the hungry side and took the Cheetahs apart in the end.

Waratahs vs Chiefs
Waratahs show they have a bit of form and nearly tip the Chiefs. The Chiefs fought out a win and in the process sadly could not gather a all important bonus point. This can cost them a semi place after 14 rounds. They can still make the semis and have the Saders at Jade to win to get there. The will have all the Saffers support to do this and on their day they can.

Bulls vs Blues
This game had two results written on them. The Blues would came firing on all cylinders or will had a long night. The Blues really look the goods and when they had 9 – 0 I thought game on. But sadly that’s where it end for them and they run out of everything. This game showed Fourie du Preez class and the try before halftime was the end for the Blues. The Bulls have a easy game vs the Reds and should end on any of the first 3 spots. The Blues have a difficult Force game and everything to play for. This will be the last roll of the dice for them.

Brumbies vs Crusaders
The Brumbies look like a team on a missing and if they have all their old stock back still look like a top team. To beat the Saders on any place on earth is as good as a job well done. The Saders don’t look like their usual and look like they only played to get that one bonus point to get them a home semi. Well they did not get it and now have to go for 5 against the Chiefs otherwise they wont end on top. Brumbies can still get in the semis with the help of others.

Sharks vs Lions
This game showed the return of Bobby Skinstadt and the Sharks did what they had to to get a five pointer in wet conditions. The Lions lost their teeth and is dead now. The Sharks have a difficult Stormers visit to end their round robin games. They also can miss out but can also go to the top with the help of the Chiefs.

Stormers vs Reds
Only proud to play for in this game. The Stormers had just to much class and move away from the bottom lot. The only plus for them is that they do great in the pride stakes and the Sharks in their way to have a respectable ending and standing on the S14 log.

If we went back to the start of this season and all the goals that had been met in this season so far I think just about every Saffer team bar the Cheetahs will be satisfied. A bonus already to have two teams in the top group and a dream if we can get the two top places. May that dream come true.
