One more round and we half way through the S14. With the Cricket World
Cup starting this week it still feel like summer. Round six was a mix
round of success for all three countries. After round 6 we start to see
the S14 is started to divide in catogories. On top of the world we have
the likes of the Blues and Sharks. Chasing hard we have the Bulls and
Crusaders, a big middle group and the bottom lot favoaring the Reds as
wooden spooners.
Clan vs Reds
No upset and the Clan putting the depleted Reds away.
Hopefully Eddie Jones will get quieter and quieter as the tournament
goes along. Still a SA tour for the Reds and one way traffic for them.
The Clan with their tour behind them may climb the ladder.
Brumbies vs Stormers
Well
back to the usual for the Stormers. They enter the difficult part now.
They must thank the Bulls and if they can built from the last part of
the game they can fancy their changes for another win on tour. They
are in desperate need for one more win on tour to call it successful.
The Brumbies with their stars back is still a difficult one on tour.
For not getting that bonus point will cost them in the end.
Force vs Hurricanes
Well
done Force to get this one point victory at home. They also have their
tour behind them and are certainly Aus best team in the competition.
The Hurricanes can only hope to get their All Blacks back and now enter
their SA leg. First up the Tank and more suffering looms.
Blues vs Lions
Bang
and the Lions were run off their crown in a first half Blues blitz.
They struggle first half but play a much improve second half. Hopefully
they learn the hard lesson in this game and will meet a Chiefs side
next up. The scrums they did OK and we know the Chiefs is the hard men
of NZ rugby. The Blues is the best place NZ team and we wait for their
usual slog. At some time it will happen but if they keep playing the
way they did it is going to take a brave heart team to knock them. They
have the luxury of a full team to take on tour. Problem is the current
team perform so good and you don’t want to change a winning team.
Waratahs vs Bulls
The
surprise packet so far for the Saffers. The Tahs is a shadow of last
year and the Bulls bully the Tahs in the same way they did to the
Brumboys. The Bulls built a important away block and the good thing for
Bok rugby is that pack. With Guthro, Bakkies, Matfield, Wannenburg, du
Preez and Banana as Boks it is good that they get a winning experience
away from home. Next weekend the biggest target for the Bulls Beef. The
Waratahs, well they have problems. If they drop the Stormers game next
up they are gone.
Cheetahs vs Sharks
A usual hard and
uncrompomising Saffer derby. The Sharks start now to look like a top
team. They look from start to finish like the best team. They have the
habit of playing better away from home and Saturday was the same.
Osfontein drought has been broken in the process. They have two more
home games and if they keep winning they will be semi contenders. BJ
Botha showed his class this weekend and if JP Pietersen could caught
the ball they should have put a big score on the Cheetahs. The Cheetahs
are on thin ice and have to gain speed otherwise bottom of the log
contender.
Thanks Bulls and Sharks to make it a watchable weekend of rugby.
