Silverfern Spotlight : Aussie Spook Print E-mail
Written by Aussie Spook
Monday, 22 September 2008
Strangely enough, Aussie Spook, is, an Aussie.  Has been stirring Kiwis on the Fern forum now for three years after joining in March of 2005, thank Christ, as that means he was not here in 2003 when yet another of these RWC games that never happened, never happened.  It was bad enough Lee Grant posting that Mortlock photo as his avatar (it's time for that to go LG, please)!!!

Forum member number 1317.

Describe yourself in 25 words or less:  I'm a fairly motivated sort of bloke.  I get impatient with lack of change and need to set  new "goals" once I achieve something.  This can be quite annoying as sometimes I feel I don't savour achievements quite enough.  Other than that, I'd describe myself as being emotional and quite passionate.

What international rugby team do you support and why?  The Wallabies of course.  Why?  Probably something to do with being an Aussie    However, I do think the Wallabies are a smart team who never throw the towel in. I like that quality.

What Super 14 team do you support and why?  The Brumbies.  I can give you quite a few reasons...2001, 2004. ..Smith, Gregan, Roff, Larkham, Mortlock, Finnegan.. looking forward to Gits rejoining the stable.

What's the biggest challenge facing rugby?  Definitely getting the ELVs into the Northern Hemisphere.

Who was the game's greatest ever player?  I think John Eales had it all but Mark Ella was truly gifted.

How about non-NZ players? Who were/are the greatest?   Lomu, Larkham, Gregan, Horan, McCaw, Sella, Fitzpatrick, Francois Pienaar, Campese, Lynagh, Catchpole, Fox,

Jones

The best match you have ever seen?  1991 World Cup Semi-final.  Australia Vs New Zealand. The true final IMO.  Really captured the imagination.

The best try you have ever seen?  1991 1/4 Final - Australia Vs Ireland.  That Campo pass to give Australia the win in the dying part of the game.

What position did you play, if you played, in rugby?  Started as a number 8 ended up as an inside centre.  Damn my natural athleticism!

What do you like about the Silverfern?   The functionality provided by the Fern is quite outstanding.  It's also an extremely active community.  (Your enthusiasm knows no bounds A.S. - Editor BartMan)!!!

How could the site be improved?  Well having an Aussie mod wouldn't be inappropriate.

Who's your favourite poster?  Jury. Informative and rational...very rare in a Kiwi

Who's the worst poster?   TB with his irrational hatred of all things Aussie.  :fishing:

How did you pick your user name?   I didn't pick it...it was given by others as it kind of rhymes with my first name

How could the game of rugby be improved?  Adopt the ELVs to make the contest for the ball fairer.  1 point drop goals wouldn't hurt either.

What rugby player would you turn gay for?   The player with the smallest trouser snake.  No need to explain is there?

Favourite music?  Mainly alternate stuff but I also enjoy classical music and ballads.

Favourite book?  Lord of the Rings.

Favourite movie?  The Shawshank Redemption.

Biggest lifetime regret?  Well I've lived overseas now for 8 years and I regret not spending more time with the old man.

Greatest hope?  Moving back to Oz with loads of cash and raising healthy and happy kids with my wife.
