King Carlos, again : Photosport.co.nzLeague:  A win at last for the Kiwis, against the mighty Lions.  I have to admit, I have seen about ten minutes of the three matches so far, league this season has left me cold.  While the rugby Air New Zealand Cup may have offered up some dross, a bad game of rugby still competes with a good game of league in my books any day!  The Kiwis though, on the scoreboard at last, and should they beat the Poms again, whcih they should (shouldn't they), it gives them a chance to win the Tri Nations the second season running.  Assuming of course that the Lions don't go and beat the Aussies twice in 'pool' play, which I am sure they won't.  Not event eh fights this year have been able to force me to watch the Kiwis, how bad is that?  Almost as bad as the new 'granny gate', the eligibility of 'Kiwi' hooker Nathan Fien, whose GREAT Grandmother was born in New Zealand.  Mind you, that is a quote from the head honcho of NZ League, Sel whathisname, the bloke that sounds like he should be managing the Tairua Pipi Pickers Golden Oldies team, where he organises piss ups and dirty girls...

Tennis:  A win for new Zealand's Marina Erakovic (good Kiwi name that) in a tennis singles event thingy.  She kicked arse in Beijing.  This win means that a Kiwi lass will be the in the top 200 female tennis players for the first time since New Zealand was in the Soccer World Cup!

Soccer:  That was a nice lead into the soccer wasn't it, and what better time to talk about soccer, and being able to put the boot in than now, when the NEW ZEALAND Knights continue to look incapable of kicking over sandcastles at the beach, let alone blast goals past goalkeepers in the Australian A League.  They now have eight losses on the trot, are cemented to the bottom of the league ladder, have a minus 19 goal differential, and had 2400 odd fans turn up on Friday for their 0-4 loss to league leaders Melbourne.    Rugby:  Tana has landed.  No burnout for the dreaded wonder.  He's now in France, picking up his $600,000, before heading back to the capital for a final season of Super Rugby, and who knows what else, perhaps wearing black a few months later...

Cricket:  Holy Cow!  The Kiwi cricketers have managed to qualify top of their group at the ICC Champoions Trophy thing, and now face the Aussies this Wednesday.  As per usual, Bond has missed one game because of a sore back (lying on it too often when injured perhaps). and Styris has alse been crocked by injury.  This is after both players were passed fit by the Cricket bosses pre tour.  People of little faith (ie, me) have not yet managed to watch more than a few overs live at this stage, and no doubt when we do, the boys will go down in their usual blaze of mediocrity...    Rugby:  King Carlos, back from a three week break, due to injury and suspension was a the peak of his powers over the weekend as his club Northampton beat Borders 37-13.  Sounds like he was the confident Carlos that we saw all to infrequently in New Zealand, with the no look passes to the fore.  Fellow Kiwi Mark Robinson also got onto the scoreboard - on the field, not off.

Golf:  The fall from grace continues for New Zealand golf.  Not only do we have a loud mouthed flash in the pan as New Zealand golf's figurehead / rent a quote, but our performance on the amateur stage has gone from hero to zero too.  The latest
Eisenhower Trophy Result saw New Zealand finish 19th.  RIP, New Zealand golf...
