Ashes: Starts at last - 1:00pm today, Kiwi time, live on Sky
Sport, be there!! Think I might take lunch an hour late so I can catch the
start. Love the coverage, meaning there is something to watch on TV into
the early evening during the test series. C'mon Dad's Army, or go the Poms.
Who really cares, so long as there is lots of drama and good cricket.
Boofball: The Tri Series of league final on Saturday night. The
Kiwi's heading into the final favourites despite losing twice to the Bread
Stealers. Would be a nice one to win, but really, the farce that
international rugby league is, who cares. Only think I hope I hear about
(as I always seem to forget these games are on) is Big Willy Blowhard getting
his beans!
The teams.
Bread Stealers: K Hunt, B Tate, M Gasnier,J Hodges, G Inglis, D Lockyer (c),J
Thurston, W Mason, C Smith, P Civoniceva, N Hindmarsh, A Ryan, L O'Donnell.
Interchange: M O'Meley, S Berrigan,A Tupou, B Kite.
Kiwis: B Webb, S Hape, I Soiola,S Matai, M Vatuvei, N Vagana, S Jones,R Wiki
(c), D Halatau, R Asotasi, D Kidwell,S Mannering, D Fa'alogo. Interchange:M
Tony, N Cayless, A Blair, F Pritchard.
Poofball: Kingz, or Knights, or whatever that useless soccer team based in
Auckland is called - thin they have managed to win a game since last I talked
about them, but through the opposition scoring, not off their own boot.
Rumour has it 'own goals' is the high scorer for the Kingz / Knights this
season. They have sacked their coach, but you can't blame the coach for
the playing being shit can you?? Their name - was Kingz, now Knights, next
up, Foot Soldiers, Archers, or perhaps Serfs. The New Zealand Serfs.
Or perhaps, we can but hope that they will slip quietly into the North Harbour
Stadium sunset...
Speaking of stadiums, the waterfront shit in Auckland. Best option in mine
eyes, with the least hassle to build - North Harbour. They have the space,
they have the consents, they have the plans, just build the farking thing - some
time before 2011 would be good...
Cricket: The domestic New Zealand season has started, and good to see some
thing have not changed from the international season. Lou Vincent scoring
ZERO in an innings where Auckland racks up 300+ for 3. Tim McIntosh
opening for the Aucks scoring 170 odd not out at this stage. His 10th
first class century. Interesting that, this blokes 10th ton, and another
international cricketer who never really lived up to his status, in the one day
arena anyway, Craig McMillan scored his 15th the other day. Well, I
thought tat was intersting.
Rugby: The All Blacks are cheats. Just liek the English were cheats
in 2003, and the Boers in the early 2000s when they were winning all the time.
Well, not quite just like, because they WERE cheating, and we are just really,
really, really good...
Petrol Heads: The V8 Super Car stuff. Last year at Pukekohe, before
at least eight years on the streets in Hamilton. So nothing much will
change from a normal Saturday night in Hamilton when all bogans in their old
Kingswoods are racing around anyway. Least disruption of any potential
venue!
Rugby: Riche McCaw, Jason Eaton and the All Blacks won awards at the
International Rugby Players' Association's (IRPA) Awards. Player of the
year, newcomer of the year and team of the year respectively. Hard case
for Eaton when you think he might be sliding down the rankings in the All Blacks
and could be struggling to make the RWC squad next season.
Heartland Rugby: Been talking to two of the tourists to Argie with the
Heartland squad. Farking hard rugby over there, the players and fans are
arrogant to the extreme, a very rich mans sport over there, refs had a huge home
town bias, and they enjoyed it immensely!! A tour too far though I think
for the boys, Canada next season, might see some better results. One from
three on this tour.
