Stat Attack - All Blacks v South Africa v3 Print E-mail
Written by BartMan
Wednesday, 13 August 2008
The third and deciding test match in the 2008 All Blacks v South Africa series, which is part of that Tri Nations thingy too!  For the first time, the experience factor is almost level, the total caps in the Boer match day 22 is 647, while the All Blacks have clawed back up to 640.

For the first time in a test this season, the All Blacks outpoint the opposition forward pack too, 327 to 260.  And a lot of that caps superiority is in the front row, where the Boers are starting with a couple of international pups in Mtawarira and du Plessis, with 20 caps between them.  In the second row, replacing Bakkes "I am not a thug" Botha is 7 cap verteran Andries Bekker.  So a little light in experience in the tight five for the Boers - where it could bite them.

The backline though is at full strength, despite what some daft bastard Boer minister of sport thinks.  Here the Boers may have superiority over the All Blacks, so the all important battle of the fatties becomes more important for the men in black - especially the seeming miss match between Kahui and Habana.

Montgomery, 99 caps, hats off to you.  A far cry from the skinny bloke wearing 13 in the Boers 30 to 50 0dd loss at Eden Park in 1997!!  Good luck to you, but not too much!

Anyway, onto the stats.
