Super 13 Preview - Stormers Print E-mail
Written by PaarlBok
Sunday, 21 January 2007
Burger - back! : Photosport.co.nz The Stormers will try to play this year the traditional 15 men WP rugby. They will be unpredictable and on their day can destroy any team. Looking through the team sheet you'd know why because the have so many versatile players in the backs.

Changes

Gains:
Brent Russell Sharks
Conrad Jantjes Lions
Breyton Paulse France
Dylan des Fountain Bulls
Sereli Fidji
Selborne Boome France

They have a host of young Maties comeing through the ranks of CC and want to make a S14 mark
Sarel Potgieter, Corne Uys, Peter Grant, Francois van der Merwe, Robbie Diack, Pieter Louw, Ismauel Dollie to name a few.

Losses:
Marius Joubert Cheetahs

Strengths
The biggest strength of this team is its backline. With Russell at 10 they can run any team to pieces. They have a world class backrowe and they have a new captain that will be out to proove Jack White he should be in the Bok team. This year they have a nice mix of young talent and older players.

Weakness
Their biggest weakness will be in the propping stock. They are also have the biggest talent on paper but struggle to bring the results to show it. They dont have a decent coach and the loss of Louis Koen (Boland) and Gary Gold (WP Vodacom) is big.

Draw
The Stormers and Bulls have the baddest draw in the competition. They have to play the Cheetahs away first up, one home game, a tour of hell which includes three semi contenders before the home games which will end their compaign.

Questions
Will this talented team put the result on board they deserve? Can Lucky Luke Watson produce as a player and captain? Can Kobus van der Merwe make this team a close family unit? Can the Stormers survive the first part of their draw with some wins? Can the forwards give that backline even 40% ball?
