Well what a entertaining round of rugby. I have got three out of four SA
predictions right. My Favourite SA and NZ teams loose. So let me get the
negatives out of the way. The Chiefs loose but at least they nearly win and
throw their game away in the last minute. I got good news for them. They will
get their campaign back on track in their first away game. The Stormers is
heading for this years wooden spoon. They don’t look like even a primary school
team. The positive spin is the sooner Fester and Wagner goes the better. I have
never see in my life a team that wins 90% lineout ball and they don’t know what
to do with this must earn the wooden spoon. The pocket rocket was however the
only player who deserved credit. Now with the Boland and Fidentia saga the first
they can do is to get the Boland props on their books. JD Moller is still
looking for a lost item on the Newlands grass.
The only highlight of Fridays games was the Sharks. They grind out two wins now
and if everything goes their way they heading in the right direction. Credit to
the Tahs however because their scrum with the youngster was impressive. Last
week they earned a win which they don’t deserve but this week it was the other
way round. My Sharkies man of the match was again AJ and Butchie.
Saturday the Saders showed once again their class. Even with their B team
they win against a much improved Reds side.
The Blues was the most impressive NZ team. They looks a different team
then last year. To pick up two great wins this year will put them in good stead
and is also heading in the right direction.
Then the BIG SA class. So good to see Bands on the field. Put in some big
hits and make a huge difference to the scrumming. However this Cheetah side
looks much different then last year. They made the Bully Boys fight until the
end. They playing a exciting brand with width and forward play when needed.
The last game once again I had spot on. This young Lions side is
impressive. The Grobs play some good rugby. Heinke pass his first big test with
flying colours and the future looks good for this young prop. With Petoors back
they will become even better. The Tahs performance against the Sharks put their
round 1 performance in perspective.
Once again this week games just show why S14 rugby is such a great
competition. Every single winning team have to work to come up on top.
The braai chop taste fantastic.
