TSF Team Tipping : Week 1 Print E-mail
Written by KiwiPie
Monday, 31 July 2006
Early days but already the class has shown through along with some stunning mediocrity. All of the favoured teams won their games, Northland doing worse than expected while Counties and Tasman performed better than TSF predicted...

Wellington squeaked past BOP in a thriller, 52-51. Good consistent scoring was the key, a 46 from Winger was dropped and Toots late entry meant he was left out of the side. Afalker top scored with 56. For BOP, Donsteppa continued his S14 form with 57 while Bayimports poor score of 36 was dropped. BOP were unlucky not to be playing another side this weekend but they pick up 2 points.

Waikato thrashed Auckland by a massive 58-44, Hooroo with a weekend’s best of 65 (6 from 6 including margins) and Brakdov with 63 including all 4 category picks. WtW’s respectable 47 was dropped. Auckland had Blue Thunder not tipping, Kirwan’s appalling 31 was dropped leaving DK’s abysmal 35 to score. Tim the best with 51.

Otago showed promising form to beat up Northland 50-39, no surprise as the Taniwha played just 3 until Team Rebel turned up late and then got most of his picks wrong. Duluth had a respectable 52. FarNthHayden never turned up at all and with just a 5 man squad, stern words will be needed or they could go the whole season winless (in fine Northland tradition). For Otago, sworn enemies Voltman and Barnya scored 59 and 56 while Barnesy’s 37 was dropped.

Tasman overcame their Cantab neighbours 50-44. Xpat 56 and Chris B 54 made up for not such good scores from Mr Mike and Beardie. Wildman failed to appear for Canterbury, MvJ managed just 26 to be dropped and this meant Cd_wilson’s 34 was counted. Crusader Corey best with 51.

Harbour just pipped Valley 44-43 in a low-scoring contest. Dogmeat’s 49 the best, Anti-Clive’s 31 dropped. Mulch nailed 51 for Valley but 3 scores in the 30s (BobbyD lowest with 34) condemned them to defeat.

Finally Hawke’s Bay eased to a 48-39 win over Counties. Stoli best with 52, BMR with 51 – Jethro left out for turning up late. Paj and Allstar both with lows of 39. Counties had Freddagg on the bench and naturally he stormed to 57 while the rest were in a range of 44 (Crucial) to 36 (FBB and Chaz).
