Dan Vickerman : Photosport.co.nzWe’ve been throwing this one around on the forum a bit, and after some initial picks I’ve decided to have the following:

Rodney Blake (QLD) – the young tighthead prop shifts to the other side where he is also capable

Adam Freier (NSW) – a good throwing performance despite the easy target of Vickerman, and a good game around the park playing backup fetcher to Waugh. Certainly a tricksy hobbit.

Al Baxter (NSW) – his scrummaging is better than last year, and was a factor in dominating the Stormers in the second half. His workrate around the field is excellent especially at ruck time.

Dave Pusey (WA) – took a lot of lineout ball and was part of a Force tight five that only lacks a bit of polish to make them dominant.

Dan Vickerman (NSW) – Aussie Dan is showing why he’s our most valuable forward right now. Dominant over opposition lineouts and safe as houses on ours.

Hugh McMeniman (QLD) – storming game from the big lad, and just nudges out Elsom.

George Smith (ACT) – revelled in the conditions against the slower Bulls and showed his class for the second week running.

Jone Tawake (ACT) – is at last showing some fitness and good hands.

Sam Cordingely (QLD) – Gregan must be shitting himself and trying to remember how to snipe from the base.

Berrick Barnes (QLD) – I raved enough about the young bloke above. Jeez he’s top flight for a bloke not even 20.

Digby Ioane (WA) – pace, power, generally safe hands, and fearless in contact.

Matt Giteau (ACT) – good hands and an asset to Larkham running the Brumbies backline

Stirling Mortlock (ACT) – led the ACT to a narrow win and was always dangerous in midfield. Good to see him back and fitter than ever.

Mark Gerrard (ACT) – as a 14 can play a better role as backup flyhalf to Ioane’s ball running wing, but also has the ability to take on the defence with size and pace.

Sam Hyphen (NSW) – all-round superb game. Don’t think I’ve seen punting like that at sea level from anyone else in this comp.
