Aus v NZ -Chappell Hadlee series II

He had one go for (effectively) 11 runs (4 from the delivery + nb + 6 from the free hit), and one for 7 runs (2 + nb + 4 free hit).

So 20 sounds about right including a couple of others I assume

Yeah he had four no-balls and the first free hit I'm pretty sure was a slow bouncer that went for 2 - so that's 15 and I'm not sure what happened with the other one, but I suspect it went for four.

  • Fuck I hate the 2 free hit rule. It's so childish.

Apparently, according to cricinfo commentary, it was NZs first no ball in 35 matches. So maybe the rule has the desired effect of reducing no balls (if that was the design?). But I think the design was to allow the flame thrower operators a heads up. I never felt watching 4 or 5 no balls out of 300 deliveries ruined my watching pleasure.

Free hits and scrum penalties. My hate list.

  • First part of the equation is go, with Black Caps fielding first (Even though they won toss)

@Rapido Funny, I really like the No-ball free hit rule.

  • Glad to see Southee in for Ferguson. Choosing to bowl first is interesting. Haven't seen the conditions but batting first is the norm in Canberra. From memory, it is a big ground and the pitch is generally a bit slow.

I think it's due to a bit of rain, and hoping for some swing. Not silly with Southee about - roll them for a hundy and done in a couple if hours :)

  • You get the feeling Williamson captaincy needs some work - a bit like McCullum when he took over the role. At this stage the decision to bowl does not look a good one.

  • Fuck. This is like all those times touring sides turn up to the 'gabba for the first test of the year, see a bit of green, and bowl first. Queue Aus scoring 560/6 declared.

46/0 after less than 9 is about as bad as it gets when you decide to bowl first.

  • Not the start we were looking for.

400 on the cards at this rate!

  • Bring on Southee already

He did get a few things wrong in game 1. Hopefully he learns from that. Interesting that he has gone with Santner early. I suppose Southee is trusted to bowl at the death.

They don't play a lot of Int'l ODI's at Manuka, but the three they have the OZ openers have got off to flyers.

And Santner bowls Finch behind his legs - that's more like it!

  • Cool, so they are only managing to go at 5 an over and this is their best batsmen.... prolly max of 250 I reckon............

  • Fuck i hate David Warner

  • Sounds like some average fielding from the Black Caps again - not a good look. Usually an area they can rely on.
